How can I place a custom order?

Custom orders can be placed by using our standard e-form. We’ll follow up with a call or email to get to know you and your project better. You can also call to discuss your order and the details: 503.734.0318.

What types of design work do you specialize in?

Our focus is primarily on designing custom letterpress stationery using our antique letterpress. Our press, Clara, is from 1931 and she is a work horse! Our designs mostly include hand-drawn artwork and calligraphy for wedding invitations, baby and party announcements, business cards and other business projects. We also have a line of greeting cards, coasters, calendars and gift tags available for purchase on Etsy or from these lovely retailers.

What is your pricing for letterpress printing?

Please view our letterpress pricing guide to get an idea of our pricing, however every custom job is different and we are happy to put together a custom estimate for you to review. Please contact us with questions or request an estimate.

What are my ink color options?

We hand mix Pantone Colors for each project. If you have a Pantone in mind please let us know. Most colors will end up a bit lighter as the cotton paper we use soaks up some of the ink in the printing process. We are also happy to help you decide on a color and match to your theme. 

What kind of papers do you use?

We primarily use tree-free, 100% cotton papers and 30-100% post-consumer waste recycled envelopes. We carry bright white, pearl white and ecru white 110 lb. paper in stock and that is what our estimates are based off of. This paper works wonders for a nice crisp letterpress impression.  Additional paper options are available, such as: chip board, double-thick 100% cotton or wood veneer. Pricing is dependent on the paper. Please inquire for custom pricing.

How do I pay?

We accept check, money order, PayPal payments, and credit cards over the phone. Checks should be made out to “Creative Lab Press” and mailed to: PO Box 96014, Portland, OR 97296. Any returned checks will be charged a $35 return fee. If you wish to pay with PayPal, please let us know and we will email you a payment link. Please call in your credit card number to pay with a card.

What is your process once I send my order form in?

Can you convert a drawing or sketch into a letterpress piece?

We can work with you to convert most sketches and doodles into a letterpress piece of art. However, the original must be a black and white line drawing, or be able to be converted into one. Please submit a PDF of the ready artwork to be approved. Custom illustration work is available for $60.00/hour. At this time Creative Lab Press is not taking on print projects that are designed out of house.

How does my order ship?

The majority of orders will ship via UPS GROUND unless otherwise arranged. Two-Day and Overnight Shipping are also available upon request. If you prefer we ship via your own UPS or FedEx account, please provide us with your account number and preferred shipment type (ground, 2-day, overnight, etc). We also like to support the Post Office whenever possible, and will ship using USPS (Priority Mail) for smaller orders.

For orders shipped in the United States, standard UPS Ground, USPS (or 2-Day/Overnight) charges are added to your order total. For international orders, the most cost effective shipping method will be used. UPS preferred.

What's included with my order?

Not only will you receive personalized service and uniquely designed stationery in your order, but one of our other loves is good, simple packaging. We are doing our very best to package orders with environmentally friendly and creative products that still offer beauty and joy for the recipient. We ask that you recycle all of the tissue, ribbon and boxes that we use to ship. Wrap your own gifts, use the ribbon to tie your daughter’s lunch sack, make a fancy dog leash or keep the boxes for your next fort or moving day!

What is your return policy?

Unfortunately, custom orders cannot be returned. In the event that you are not completely satisfied with your order, please contact us or call and we can discuss this on a case by case basis. Orders for non-custom items from our Etsy shop may be returned within 10 business days with all product packaging intact. Please contact us for a return authorization.  All wholesale orders are final. In the event that your order was damaged during shipping, please contact us within 5 business days for a return authorization.
